About Word Inspector
What Word Inspector is
Word Inspector is a party word game for a small table. Each player hides a secret word on a tray of face-down cards. The others try to expose it by asking for letters. Correct asks score the points printed on those cards. A wrong guess about a blank costs you. It plays like a tabletop letter hunt, with activity cards that change the turn.
Objective
Finish with the highest score. You score by revealing cards on other players' trays, and you can lose points for asking badly. The game ends when every secret word has been exposed. The player with the highest total wins.
How a round works
Each player chooses a secret word of 4 to 12 letters from the game dictionary. You may pad it with up to five blanks, and blanks may sit only at the start, the end, or both. They do not count as letters in the word. On a turn, draw an activity card, then ask the table for a letter. A hit flips every matching card on the trays you asked. Activity cards can grant an extra turn, force someone to expose a card, add or deduct points, or apply a multiplier. An optional ask timer, shorter on the harder settings, keeps a slow table moving.
How scoring works
Each card slot is worth 5, 10, or 15 points, and a correct letter scores the value of every card it flips. Guessing that a hidden card is a blank, and being wrong, costs 50 points. Exposing the last card of a word scores a 50-point bonus. Activity cards can add or deduct points, or multiply the next correct ask by 3, 4, or 5. The running total is those slot points, card effects, blank penalties, and last-card bonuses.
Number of players
Word Inspector seats two, three, or four players. Local play can include bots at Easy, Normal, or Hard. Online, each person uses their own device and locks in a secret word before the asks begin.
Strategy
A short common word is easier for the table to finish, and several middle slots are worth 15. Blanks at the ends hide the shape of the word, but a wrong blank ask costs 50, so spend those guesses late. An activity card that forces an expose can open a word before you spend a blank guess.
Local and online play
Play on one device and pass it around the table, with or without bots. Online, the host opens a room and shares a 6-character code. Friends join on their own phones, lock their words, and take turns live. No account is required. The Android app shows ads, and a one-time purchase in Google Play removes them.
